The Sandman: Episode 3 Review With Spoilers

The Sandman: Episode 3 "Dream a Little Dream of Me" Review  Warning : The article contains spoilers.  Johanna and Morpheus sitting on a tree k-i-s-s-i-n-g. If we were kids we would be singing this tune, because if there's one thing this episode has in plenty, then it's the sizzling chemistry between the two.  Jenna Coleman and Tom Sturridge do a great job of conveying the desire the two characters feel. Also, it makes sense that the two are attracted towards each other. After all, both of them love trench coats and believe that it's dangerous for anyone to get close to them.  In Johanna's case it is true, since we see her ex-Rachel wasting away because our Constantine accidentally left the pouch of Sand with her. Poor Rachel is pulled into a beautiful dream as she pines over Johanna without eating or drinking. By the time our duo get to her, there's nothing they can do except ensure that she passes away painlessly in her sleep. Maybe this serves as a less...

The Sandman- Episode 1 Review With Spoilers

The Sandman- Episode 1 "Sleep Of The Just" Review  Note : The following review contains spoilers   While scrolling through Twitter for reactions to the show, I stumbled across a curious comparison by viewers. There were a couple of viral tweets comparing the similarities between Tom Sturridge's Sandman and Robert Pattinson's Edward Cullen from the Twilight Saga.  The comparisons are understandable. Sturridge's Sandman is emo, talks in a deep voice, and looks like he will fit perfectly in the Twilight world. But thankfully, he won't have to bear that torture because Sandman offers better character writing and world building for Sturridge.    The opening shots of the episode take us to a realm guarded with huge walls and doors, the Land of the Dreaming. We get a glimpse of his palace and himself in a dark coat, as he gets ready to bring a wayward nightmare home.   The first episode does a great job of establishing the main character, conflict, and the world w...

Analyzing The Curious Case Of Samrat Prithviraj's Failure

Image
On paper, Samrat Prithviraj was guaranteed to be a success. With an A-list actor as the male lead, the winner of Miss World 2017 as the female lead, a 300 crore budget, and the director of the acclaimed Chanakya show signed on for the project, the film looked perfect.  But that success was nowhere to be found. As per Bollywood Hungama, the movie collected a mere ₹67.80 cr in its entire run. So what made such a prestigious project fall head first at the box office? Here we will discuss just that.  The Akshay Kumar Controversy Problems for the movie began from the first trailer itself. Everyone from Youtube commentators to Redditors pointed out that Akshay Kumar didn't quite look like the King.   People complained that he didn't sport longish hair and his moustache looked fake. Moreover, it felt like the actor had devoted zero time to actually develop his body. Many concluded that he was just cosplaying as the King.    To make matters worse, Akshay put his f...

The Old Man Tvshow Review- Episode 1

Image
Warning: Potential spoilers ahead!  Based on: The Old Man by Thomas Perry Created by: Jonathan E. Steinberg, Robert Levine Starring: Jeff Bridges, E. J. Bonilla, John Lithgow, Alia Shawkat Jeff Bridges as Dan Chase Episode 1 of the new FX show, The Old Man, starring Jeff Bridges as Dan Chase, is the start of a beautiful but unexpected thriller. Beautiful due to the perfect pacing and cinematography, and unexpected because of the age of the protagonist. The light and camera highlight his aging and gaunt face while the writing tells us how simple things like putting on socks are now difficult for him.  But his age is slowly undercut with deftness and experience as the episode goes on, and we see Dan take down men half his age. It's almost miraculous and makes the audience question how this aging man with greying hair and cognitive/ motor problems is able to accomplish this. The conclusion is simple and one that the show wants audiences to know- that he was/is a hi...
